Full-Size Trees

A full sized Christmas tree is always driven by an external device. That means that you will have to have a device like the "ELIMINATOR 2000" or compatible unit to drive the lamps on any full sized tree.

Practicing on a full sized tree will definitely improve your performance at the track. The amount of improvement will directly depend on your ability to get a handle on your race . If your race vehicle leaves violently and erratically, then it will be difficult to get a handle on reaction time. A note to all, 60 foot consistency does not necessarily mean that your vehicle leaves the line consistently. There is approximately 10 to 18 inches of forward movement of the vehicle (ROLLOUT) before Reaction Time is clocked and the E.T. starts. Some tracks limit the Rollout by using a Guard Beam.

IN ORDER TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR PRACTICE SESSIONS, REMEMBER THIS WHEN PRACTICING WITH A FULL SIZED TREE:

  1. Buy a tree that is exactly like the tracks. Many tracks still use General Electric 85 watt miser 110 volt colored flood lamps. Portatree supplies GE flood lamps with all our full size trees. The NHRA and IHRA now use LED bulbs at all their National and Divisional events. We sell the same LED bulbs that are used by the NHRA for their National and Divisional events. Other sized bulbs may not react the same or give you the exact timing you require.

  2. If you practice too much you will get photo flash in your eyes. Practice 3 times then relax for a few minutes and then 3 times again. continual over practice will make you inconsistent.

  3. Connect the tree to your race vehicle and get inside or on it. Use your gloves, helmet, sunglasses, shoes, etc. -- Just like the track. It all makes a big difference.

  4. Ultimately you are trying to make the launch of your vehicle an instinctive reaction. This will make you fast and consistent.

  5. Make sure you practice on a pro tree. This will indicate how well you are reacting to the light. You can't really anticipate a pro tree.

SINGLE SIDED TREE

The National Event tree is the most popular full sized practice tree in our line. Many smaller asphalt, dirt, and snowmobile tracks use this same tree on their racetracks! This tree is designed to be like the regulation tree used at National Events. It features dual Pre-stage & Stage bulbs and the flood lamps are spaced in accordance to NHRA/IHRA National Event trees. Our trees are made of 100% structural aluminum with a 25 lb steel base stand.

PROFESSIONAL TREE

The Professional Tree was designed to be more attractive and rigid than any Christmas Tree on the market. The body is machined from 5" X 5" aluminum extruded square tube. The sun and wire shields are formed from aluminum sheet metal. This tree has blue lights for indicating Super Start as seen at major events. The tree is coated with black acrylic enamel and white vinyl letters for years of outdoor use. It also features 4-way lighting so racers and fans can see the action.

INCLUDES: 6 foot aluminum tree, 22 GE Flood lamps and 8 staging bulbs, and a base stand.
