The
shift counter is used in conjunction with an electric over air shift
system. This is a stand alone device useful for triggering other devices
according to which transmission gear a drag race vehicle is in. The
shift counter also has a built-in programmable electronic shift kill
function that replaces the typical air kill switch. The shift counter
can be used to activate a variety of vehicle functions according to what
gear the transmission is in, including single or multi stage nitrous
systems, multi stage waste gates, multiple shift minders for different
shift points, retard box stage control, etc. The shift counter can also
automatically control the air kill sequence properly for 1-2 or 1-2-3
automatic transmissions without the use of a shift drum switch. The
shift kill duration is adjustable between settings of 60, 70, 80 and 90
milliseconds. When a shift counter is used, an air kill switch is no
longer necessary. The shift counter will function similarly, rotating
its outputs on each successive shift until the bike is in high gear. The
shift counter has three shift kill modes which are user selectable: 1-2
auto mode, 1-2-3 auto mode and full manual mode. The auto modes
eliminate the headaches associated with the task of setting up the kill
for an automatic transmission. |
